ChangAn ISG Hybrid Car
Project 863 on electric vehicles initiated by National Scientific and Technological Ministry was formally started in 2002. As a foster part of Project 863, ChangAn Corp. developed two hybrid car models equipped with manual transmission and automatic transmission based on the platform of Lingyang car. The new hybrid models realized functions such as parking during idling, power assistance and recovery of braking power.ChangAn invested millions of capital on the project and made it industrialized. The project got the acceptance of Project 863 in Dec. 2002.
An efficient development and management team led by ChangAn was made up for the project. It coordinated closely with domestic and foreign carmakers, research institutes and universities and accumulated rich experience. The year of 2003 saw the second-pronged development of "863" Project in ChangAn. This time the company got financial help of 9 million RMB from National Scientific and Technological Ministry and 2 million RMB from the Scientific Committee of Chongqing Municipal Government. ChangAn itself invested another 27 million RMB
ChangAn adheres to a principle of basing on its own resources and borrowing domestic and foreign techniques to steadily enhance its development capability of hybrid cars. ChangAn Corp. has basically realized the process of building components system and complete hybrid cars.
Engine System
The company completed the development, design and test of special ECU system particularly for engines of Hybrid cars. The information exchange between CAN general line and HCU multi-energies management system can control the fuel injection excess, ignition access, air access, idling speed and heating of oxygen sensor.
New engine system utilizes changeable inlet manifold, adjusts cam curves, optimize piston parameters and raise compression ratio to improve torque and power performance of the engine.
Electric Motor & Control System
The company developed an ISG electric motor controlled by sine waves and also the control unit IPU of the electric motor. This disc electric motor meets basically the demands of ChangAn hybrid cars on installment and performance.
The company built a test platform for ISG and also bought a power test analyzer, WT1600 to make corresponding tests.
Battery & Management System
The company improved structures of battery connectors from 2003. Air outlet was widened for larger amount of air and interior insulating property was also enhanced. Battery managerial module boosted dynamic monitoring to SOC and temperature.
Multi-Energies Management System
The company cooperated with Netherlands TNO Company and jointly developed fast stereotype and control unit of multi-energies power assembly based on MACS system. The two companies reached multi-way CAN agreement, finished research on recovery and control theories of braking power and drew up a systematical plan on recovery of braking power.
The company also cooperated with TNO company, Qinghua University and Jicheng Corp. and completed the design and test of HCU, a multi-energies management system.
Transmission System
The company completed the optimization and improvement of transmission 287 and also analyzed influences of different gears and their interactions on dynamic characteristics and economical efficiency of the complete car. Transmission ratio was optimized, meeting performance demands of HEV.
Comprehensive Information Display System
The company developed a comprehensive information display system, which can make classified alarms of malfunction information with the help of a timely display of comprehensive information of complete cars through CAN general line.
DC/DC Power Source System
DC/DC power source system can transform the 14V voltage into 12V, reinforcing powers for the 12V power source system of complete cars.
Test System
The company built a dynamic test platform for hybrid powertrains. Driving conditions of hybrid cars were simulated and matched. Corresponding tests were made and a test standard of hybrid cars was put forward.
Lighter Weight
The company first utilized magnesium alloy on hybrid cars to reduce weight of complete Cars, which has become a strong point in the research of hybrid cars in Chongqing or even in China.
Test Production of ChangAn Hybrid Sample Car
During the second-pronged approach of Project 863, ChangAn Corp. finished test production of two sample hybrid cars. The new hybrid models realized functions such as parking during idling, power assistance and recovery of braking power. A test of cold start and tests of dynamic characteristics, economical efficiency and displacement of hybrid cars showed that ChangAn hybrid cars have great fuel efficiencies. The project successfully passed the second-pronged acceptance of National Scientific and Technological Ministry and was thought highly by the expert group.
Tests of cold state performance of HEV showed that engine idling was stable after start of hybrid cars. Start and acceleration were smooth. No trembling was found during acceleration and deceleration. Driving performance under cold state was normal. Performance of sample hybrid cars met the original design requirements under a temperature of 0°C.
Tests of fuel consumption of HEV showed that the fuel consumption of ChangAn hybrid cars per 100 km was 7.110 L. Compared with the 8.564L of 1.8L petrol engine, the new hybrid model is 16.8% more efficient.
After a research and development of more than two years, ChangAn ISG hybrid cars have realized part of functions and complete contract indexes will be finally reached. The project saw many key technological findings.
